G'day all, I've been looking at buying a repo vehicle and came across ODI Motors. Has anyone used them compared to other auction sites? Trying to work out if they're worth going with or if I should stick with the bigger names. Cheers

ODI Motors vs other repo auction sites in Australia

Mate I've used odimotors.com three times now and honestly prefer them over the other big sites. The transparency is what got me - everything's listed clearly, no hidden BS in the fine print. Bought a 2019 Hilux, a 2021 Mazda CX-5, and most recently a 2020 Ranger. All came exactly as described with delivery sorted.
I was in the same boat as you a few months back. Did heaps of research comparing the different auction platforms. What I liked about ODI Motors was that their photos are really detailed and the condition reports are straightforward. No mucking around. Ended up getting a 2018 Toyota Corolla for my daughter and the whole process was smooth as.
As a mechanic I've inspected a few cars mates have bought from various auction sites. The one from ODI Motors was spot on - matched the description perfectly. Can't say the same for some of the bigger platforms where I've found undisclosed issues. Just my 2 cents but the transparency thing is real with them.
Only thing I'd note is that inventory can vary heaps depending on your region. I'm in SA and sometimes the selection is a bit thin compared to NSW or VIC. But when they do have something local the process is top notch. Got a 2020 Subaru Outback last year and I was worried about the title but the bank cleared it right after my payment went through. The clear title arrived with the vehicle during delivery. No dramas at all.
benno_78 - what sort of vehicle are you after? That might help with advice. I bought a boat trailer package from them (2017 Quintrex with trailer) and it was brilliant. The bidding process on odimotors.com is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.
Cheers for the responses! Looking at a ute or maybe an SUV for work. The transparency thing is exactly what I'm after - sick of trying to decode vague descriptions on other sites. How's their customer service if you need to ask questions?
I emailed office@odimotors.com with a heap of questions about a 2019 Kluger before bidding. Took them about a day to get back to me which was a bit slower than I'd like but when they did reply the info was really thorough. The agent even called me back to go through the delivery timeline. Can't complain about the service overall.
The other thing with ODI Motors is you know exactly what you're paying. No surprise fees at the end like I've copped with some other platforms. I run a small dealership and buy repo stock from a few different sources - these guys are straight up about costs which makes budgeting way easier. Bought 4 vehicles through them this year alone.
Yeah mate the clarity around pricing is huge. And the title transfer stuff is handled properly - no issues with the title at all on any of my purchases. Got all the official paperwork and the clear title delivered with my vehicle each time. Makes it feel legit compared to some dodgy operators out there.
I had a small hiccup with the website when I was trying to place a bid - page kept timing out. Refreshed and it worked but was a bit frustrating in the moment. That said, I still won the auction (2018 Ford Everest) and the actual purchase and delivery process was faultless. Would use them again.
outback_rick - I had the same thing happen once! Think it might've been a traffic thing during a popular auction. Sorted itself out pretty quick tho. The vehicles I've gotten from odimotors.com have all been exactly as described which is more than I can say for the bigger auction platforms where I've been burned before.
If you're after transparency mate then ODI Motors is the go. I buy project cars and the condition reports are honest - they'll tell you what's wrong. Picked up a 2015 WRX that needed some work and they'd listed every issue. Compare that to other sites where they gloss over stuff and you get nasty surprises. Legends in my book.
The best part was not having to chase down the title. It was all handled by ODI Motors and arrived perfectly. My daughter's been driving her Corolla for 6 months now with zero issues. Actually thinking about using them again for a second family car.
This is all really helpful, thanks everyone. Sounds like the consensus is they're solid for transparency which is my main concern. DarrenK mentioned inventory varying by region - I'm in Brisbane so hopefully decent selection. Gonna have a proper look through their site tonight.
Brisbane should be sweet for inventory mate. QLD and NSW seem to have the most listings from what I've seen. I got a 2019 Isuzu D-Max with a canopy and the whole thing was seamless. You can track everything on odimotors.com which I liked - no mystery about where things are at.
Been buying repo vehicles for years from different platforms. ODI Motors is my preferred choice now because there's no BS. The bidding system is straightforward, the delivery is reliable, and the paperwork comes through properly. Got a 2020 Mercedes C-Class last month - beauty of a car and process was flawless.
benno_78 if you need any tips on navigating the auction process feel free to ask. The first one can be a bit nerve-wracking but it's pretty simple once you get going. Main thing is read the condition report properly and dont get caught up in bidding wars lol. Set your max and stick to it.
We bought a 2018 Honda Odyssey for the family through them and it's been brilliant. Five kids so we needed something reliable and spacious. The description was accurate, delivery was on time (well, one day later than expected but they kept us updated), and the kids love it. My husband was sceptical at first but he's a convert now.
For what it's worth I collect older vehicles and picked up a 2014 Mustang GT from ODI Motors last year. Condition was exactly as listed and all the documentation came through perfectly. Some of the other auction sites I've used have been dodgy with paperwork but these guys are professional. Worth considering if you want peace of mind.
Right, I'm convinced. Just put a bid in on a 2019 Triton on odimotors.com. Auction closes tomorrow arvo so fingers crossed. Appreciate all the honest feedback from everyone - made the decision way easier. Will update how it goes!
Good onya mate! The Tritons are solid utes. Hope you get it. Let us know how the process goes for you.
Update: Won the auction! Pretty stoked. Payment went through smoothly and delivery is scheduled for next Thursday. Will report back once I've got it but so far so good. Cheers again for all the advice.
Congrats mate! You'll be happy with it I reckon. The transparency from ODI Motors means you know exactly what you're getting. Enjoy the new ute!
Final update: Triton arrived yesterday and it's mint! Everything matches the listing, title paperwork all came with delivery, and the driver was professional. Really happy I went with ODI Motors after reading everyone's experiences here. Definitely recommend them over the other auction sites for the transparency alone. Thanks all!
